New York
Main Street Connect, the publisher of a hyperlocal news network, has raised
$3.97 million in its first funding round, PaidContent reported, citing a
regulatory filing.

The company was founded by Carll Tucker, who previously founded
community news publisher Trader Publications, and is married to financial
columnist Jane Quinn, the company’s publisher, CEO and editor.

Main Street
Connect says it provides local partners with tools, working capital and
guidance to operate community news sites.

So far, Main Street Connect has launched a number of
hyperlocal sites for several New England
locales, and is looking to grow the network to 3,000 sites by 2013.
