Palo Alto, Calif. – Three months ago, Facebook acquired intellectual
property and hired three engineers from Zenbe, the developer of a Web-based
mail and messaging service whose technology was implemented in Facebook’s new
Messages platform, announced yesterday.

Financial terms of the deal with New
York-based Zenbe, which will continue developing messaging applications as an independent
company, were not disclosed.

CNET News.com notes that Zenbe shut down its Zenbe
Mail product on Oct. 8.
