San Francisco – Oracle is seeking “billions of dollars” in damages from Google in a patent infringement lawsuit the company filed over Oracle’s Java technology, Reuters reports.

Last year, Oracle filed patent claims alleging Google’s Android mobile operating system infringes on its patents for the Java programming language.

For its part, Google has asked a federal judge to toss Oracle’s damages estimate, calling it “unreliable and results-oriented.”

The case is expected to head to trial by November.
