Sunnyvale, Calif. – Ruckus Wireless, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based developer of Wi-Fi technology, has raised the first $21.7 million of a planned $25 million round of equity funding, the company revealed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Thirty-nine investors have so far taken part in the round. Identities of the investors have not been disclosed.

Founded in 2004, Ruckus had previously attracted $51 million in venture capital from Sequoia Capital, Sutter Hill, T-Ventures, Investor AB, Focus Ventures and Motorola Ventures.
