Glu Mobile Inc. has acquired rights from Atari that put the freemium game company in control of the Deer Hunter brand.

Glu has licensed the franchise for 7 years, but it now own the trademark and associated domain names, along with an exclusive, irrevocable worldwide license to the other intellectual property associated with the Deer Hunter brand.

Deer Hunter games have been leaders of their genre since their 1997 birth on the PC. Niccolo de Masi, Glu president and CEO, said the company now can extend the games across all platforms and optimize its value in other ways.

“Glu has generated more than $21 million in revenue from the Deer Hunter brand over the past seven years, and we are delighted to now add it to our growing IP portfolio. We expect this deal to have a long-term favorable impact on gross margins, and anticipate finishing the year debt-free with double digit millions of cash,” de Masi said.
