Alloy Digital has launched Smosh Games, a new YouTube channel that brings its ClevverGames under its powerhouse youth brand Smosh.

Smosh has more than 7 million total subscribers, so incorporating ClevverGames’ roughly 100,000 but more highly targeted subscribers makes organizational sense and extends the game programming’s demographic reach.

Within its first 24 hours, in fact, Smosh Games has already attracted twice as many subscribers as its ClevverGames roots.

The move was not universally welcomed by the core crowd that loved ClevverGames as it was, but the channel’s hosts Jovenshire, Sohinki and Lasercorn (pictured) created a funny in-character video explaining what was and wasn’t going to change. (It can be viewed below.)

Smosh Games will deliver a range of game-related content including gaming industry news, exclusive trailers and reviews, discussions and walk-throughs, and Smosh’s own sense of humor. The above-named hosts will be joined by Smosh’s comedic duo Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox plus Smosh Pit Weekly host Mari throughout the content offerings.

“Smosh Games marks an exciting expansion of our business by leveraging the power of our audiences across Alloy Digital’s multiple branded entertainment channels,” said Barry Blumberg, executive vice president, Alloy Digital and president, Smosh. “The new platform aligns perfectly with our growth strategy for building categories that hit the key passion points of our core teen and young adult viewers.”
