Sunnyvale, Calif. – Intertrust Technologies, a Sunnyvale-based developer of digital rights management software, said on Monday it has invested in Indian startup Kiora, a developer of video rental kiosks for low bandwidth regions.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kiora’s service uses an Internet kiosk for retail outlets or community centers where consumers can fill conventional USB sticks with movies and TV shows. The content can then be downloaded at home for playback on set top boxes that will retail for under $20.
