Palo Alto, Calif. – Urban Airship, an Oregon-based developer of mobile push messaging services, said it has acquired Palo Alto-based Tello, a developer of technology that helps users of Apple’s Passbook streamline the creation and management of passes.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Urban Airship will retain the Tello office in downtown Palo Alto, adding a Silicon Valley location in addition to its existing office in San Francisco. Joe Beninato, Tello’s founder and CEO, will join Urban Airship’s management team as general manager of Digital Wallet. Tello launched its PassTools product in September. “We love what Tello has created and see tremendous potential for combining our solutions to create the perfect pass solution,” said Scott Kveton, the co-founder and CEO of Urban Airship. “The combination of push messaging, passes and location-targeting offer an easy yet sophisticated solution for businesses to drive more successful pass programs.”
