Santa puts Bing on his 'nice' list

Santa Claus has put Microsoft on his “nice” list. The internationally popular NORAD Tracks Santa site, which pinpoints his progress on Christmas Eve, has switched from Google to Bing after a five-year relationship.

Bing Maps replaces Google Maps, and the big picture offered by Google Earth is now being provided by Cesium.

Santa seems to be platform-agnostic, however. There’s also a Windows 8 app featured for download, as part of the site sponsorship spotted by Search Engine Land, but there also are apps for Windows Phone, Android and iPhone/iPad.

Furthermore, the video on the site is on Google’s YouTube, where NORAD Tracks Santa maintains a YouTube channel

Here is the official description of the NORAD Tracks Santa project:

Starting at 12 a.m. MSTon Dec. 24, website visitors can watch Santa make the preparations for his flight. Then, at 4:00 a.m. MST (6:00 a.m. EST), trackers worldwide can speak with a live phone operator to inquire as to Santa’s whereabouts by dialing the toll-free number 1-877-Hi-NORAD (1-877-446-6723) or by sending an e-mail to noradtrackssanta@outlook.com. NORAD’s “Santa Cams” will also stream videos as Santa makes his way over various locations throughout the world.
