Kwarter Lands $4 Million in First Round


Kwarter, a San Francisco-based developer of TV viewer communities for broadcasters, content producers and brands, said on Tuesday it has raised $4 million in first round of funding, led by T-Venture. Kinetic Ventures also participated in the round, which brings Kwarter’s total backing to $5 million since its founding in 2011. Kwarter’s communities offer features such as TV check-ins, discussion, complementary content, rewards, social gaming, social TV analytics and ad serving. The company launched its FanCake prototype app in late 2011, and has since partnered with Turner Sports (TBS Social Dugout app) and AB InBev (Bud Light Sports Fan app). With the latest investment, Kwarter said it plans to aggressively grow both its team and platform as it moves beyond sports programming.  Read more.
