Google's YouTube is preparing to launch several premium video channels, charging users as much as $5 a month to view specific content, AdAge reported. The company reportedly also is considering charging for pay-per-view events, advice shows and content libraries.

Google’s YouTube is preparing to launch several premium video channels, charging users as much as $5 a month to view specific content, AdAge reported. The company reportedly also is considering charging for pay-per-view events, advice shows and content libraries. “We have long maintained that different content requires different types of payment models,” a Google spokesman told AdAge. “The important thing is that, regardless of the model, our creators succeed on the platform. There are a lot of our content creators that think they would benefit from subscriptions, so we’re looking at that.”
