San Francisco-Based OpenTable Acquires Mobile Firm JustChalo

opentablechaloOpenTable, the San Francisco-based provider of an online restaurant reservation service, said on Friday it has acquired JustChalo, a mobile technology company focused on the restaurant industry, in a cash and stock deal worth approximately $11 million. JustChalo, which has offices in Saratoga and India, was co-founded by Kashyap Deorah, the former president of Futurebazaar.com, the e-commerce arm of Indian retailer Future Group, and Rishi Deshpande, a former founding member of Mountain View-based VSee Lab and member of Sony PlayStation’s R&D team. “Mobile is increasingly important to our business and the JustChalo team’s expertise will help accelerate our development efforts in this area,” said Joseph Essas, the CTO of OpenTable.
