ReelGenie Raises $850,000 in Seed Funding


reelgenieReelGenie, the Silver Spring-based developer of a new online service that lets users create videos from their photos and other multimedia content, said it has raised $850,000 in a round of seed funding. Investors included CNF Investments, the Maryland Venture Fund, faculty members from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and angels. The company, headquartered at the Silver Spring Innovation Center (SSIC), has been in closed testing since it was invited to the SXSW Accelerator in March. It plans to use the funding to fine-tune its product prior to release in early fall, as well as to finance business development and marketing efforts. “Our technology makes it easy to create a video with the same quality as a professionally produced movie,” said founder and CEO David Adelman.
