Acquia Raises $50 Million in Venture Capital


acquiaAcquia, a Burlington-based provider of commercial products for the open-source content management system Drupal, announced on Tuesday it has raised $50 million in its fifth round of venture capital, which was led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA). Founded in 2008, Acquia offers software that helps organizations create new revenue streams, lower costs, and engage audiences through content, community and commerce. Its client roster includes Twitter, Al Jazeera, Mercedes-Benz, Stanford University, Intuit, and US Department of Defense. Late last year, Acquia was ranked No. 2-ranked on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500, an annual ranking of the fastest growing technology, media, telecom, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America. (Winners were selected based on their percentage of fiscal year revenue growth from 2008-2012; Acquia had revenue growth of 84,000% over the period, according to the listing).
