Venture Beat reports: “Minecraft players on console are about to get some gravity-defying freedom. Microsoft announced details for the holiday update for the console versions of the block-building and survival game. Originally a hit on PC, Minecraft has since come out for multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U. A series of updates have slowly brought the console versions closer to feature parity with the original. Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world — selling over 100 million copies across all of its platforms — and new content ensures that players will stick around. The holiday update will come out in late December for free. It will notably add flying to the console versions via the Elytra item, which allows players to glide through the air. OK, maybe — as Toy Story’s Woody would say — that’s more ‘falling with style’ than actual flying, but it’s still cool.”
