o Google Reverses Stance,
Publishes Belgian Court Ruling
Brussels - Google has changed its stance on a Belgian
court ruling it disagreed with and complied with an order of the
court to publish the ruling on its Belgian website, Reuters
reported. The court ordered Google to remove snippets of French- and
German-language news articles from its Google News site in Belgium.
The company promptly complied with this facet of the Sept. 5 ruling,
but said as recently as Friday that it would not post the ruling on
its website -- an act of defiance that carried with it a $640,900
daily fine. Google is still seeking to have the Belgian court's
ruling cancelled. "We are pleased that a judge has given Google the
opportunity to appeal the substance of this case. This will be heard
in November," a Google spokeswoman told Reuters. Google was also
sued in U.S. court by French news organization Agence France Presse
over its use of snippets of AFP news articles on its Google News
aggregation site, and complied with calls to remove the articles
from the site.

administrators and various independent schools. "We're committed to
doing everything we can to improve internet safety," said Hemanshu
Nigam, Chief Security Officer at MySpace. "While technology plays a
