San Francisco
– Twitter expects to have "hundreds" of advertisers using its
Promoted Tweets service by the fourth quarter of 2010, the company’s chief
operating officer Dick Costolo told Reuters.

The company rolled out the program
last month with five advertising partners, and is currently in the process of
adding another dozen.

"We really look to start to ramp this up
aggressively in Q3 and then really blow it open in Q4," Costolo told
Reuters.

"We were valued at over a billion dollars last September, so
we’re going to live in a world where we need to be generating hundreds of
millions of dollars in revenue."
