Rob Glaser, the founder and former CEO of RealNetworks (NASD: RNWK) who stepped down in
January, announced on Wednesday that he has become a venture partner at venture
capital firm Accel Partners.

Glaser told PEHub his commitment will be
"half-time," as he remains the chairman of RealNetworks and involved
with other ventures.

"My sector focus will be on social media and the
social intersection of mobile with physical location and other
characteristics," said Glaser. "The second element of my focus is
that I’m Seattle-based, so I hope to introduce Accel to lots of great local
entrepreneurs."

Accel was the primary early investor in RealNetworks over
a decade ago.

"After years of working with Accel as an entrepreneur, I look
forward to working side-by-side with the Accel team to help identify companies
which will benefit from the same kind of resources and partnership RealNetworks
was so fortunate to have," said Glaser.

"There are a wealth of promising
startups in the world of digital media and I am thrilled to have the
opportunity to work with Accel to help them succeed."
