Calif.
– Google (NASD: GOOG) has acquired
online advertising technology firm Invite Media, All Things D reported, citing
sources.

The report suggested the price Google paid was around $70 million.

Founded
in 2007, Philadelphia-based Invite Media is developing a demand-side platform
for online ad exchanges.

Google is expected to maintain Invite as a standalone
unit, which will work with its AdX and similar exchanges.

Invite previously
raised an undisclosed sum of funding from backers including Comcast Interactive
Capital, First Round Capital, Genacast Investors and Creative Commerce.
