Richmond, Va.
– Media General, the owner of newspapers and television stations in the Southeastern U.S., said on Friday that it will become the
first member of Yahoo’s (NASD: YHOO) newspaper consortium to sell Yahoo display ads at its
TV stations.

The targeted banner ads will appear on Yahoo pages and display to
users in specific Media General markets.

The company plans to extend the program to all 18 of its
stations by the end of this year, following a successful pilot in four TV
markets.

Media General has been selling the ads in its daily newspapers since
2007, last year generating $7 million in revenue from Yahoo and HotJobs ads.

That figure is expected to grow to $10 million this year, with the TV component
now expected to increase that figure by 50%.
