Los Angeles – In the news publisher’s first acquisition, The
Huffington Post has purchased Adaptive Semantics, a provider of learning and
sentiment analysis technology.

Financial terms of the transaction were not
disclosed.

Adaptive Semantics’ JuLiA platform "offers automated comment
moderation, user-profiling, and a series of reporting tools to enhance and
streamline the entire community moderation process."

The co-founders of
Adaptive Semantics, Elena Haliczer and Jeff Revesz, will become project lead of
social news technology, and director of social news technology, respectively,
at The Huffington Post.
