New York
– Hulu, the online video portal joint venture between NBC Universal (NYSE:  GE), News Corp. (NYSE:  NWS)
and Disney (NYSE:  DIS), may begin testing a paid subscription service next week, The Wall
Street Journal reported, citing people briefed on the plans.

The "Hulu
Plus" service would charge around $10 per month for access to content beyond
Hulu’s existing free offerings, as well as distribution to Apple’s iPad and as
well as other devices, according to The Journal’s source.

Since launching at
the end of 2007, Hulu’s traffic has grown to reach 813 million unique streams
in May, according to Nielsen.

The company said in March that it generated over
$100 million in revenue in 2009.
