Los Angeles – After some forty years on the traditional
airwaves, syndicated radio veteran Dr. Demento’s show is heading online, the
Associated Press reported. Demento — aka 69-year-old writer and
ethnomusicologist Barret Hansen — has been known for mixing in political
satire music, and is credited with helping launch the career of "Weird
Al" Yankovic. "With the increasingly narrow casting, as they call it,
of radio where stations will pick one relatively restricted format and stick
with it 24 hours a day, especially in the music area, my show just got perhaps
a little too odd of a duck to fit in," Hansen told AP.
