Mountain View, Calif. – Google (NASD: GOOG) has announced that it will
officially discontinue in-house sales of its Nexus One smartphone, once a final
shipment it received last week sells out.

The company discontinued sales from
its website in May, which was for a time the only place consumers could
purchase the phone.

At that time, Google partnered with a number of retailers
to make the Nexus One available in stores.

Now, Google has opted to discontinue
all sales of the Nexus One, which will still be available from a few retailers
— including Vodafone in Europe and KT in Korea.

The company said it will
continue to provide customer support for current Nexus One owners, and that it
will continue to make the hardware available through a partner for sale to
registered developers.
