Cambridge, Mass. – Backupify, a provider of online data
backup, archiving and export services, announced on Tuesday that it has raised
$4.5 million in its first round of venture capital.

Avalon Ventures and General
Catalyst Partners co-led the investment round; Lowercase Capital and First
Round Capital also participated.

Founded in 2008, Cambridge, Mass.-based Backupify
offers a data backup system that is compatible with popular social media sites
including Google Apps, Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.

The company’s services
allow users to backup their cloud accounts to the Amazon S3 cloud, which offers
security and data duplication capabilities.
