San Diego – Verve Wireless, a developer of mobile news delivery
applications and operator of a local ad network, announced on Tuesday that it
has raised $7 million in new funding, led by BlueRun Ventures.

Previous
investors including the Associated Press also participated.

Encinitas,
Calif.-based Verve says its mobile news management and distribution tools are
used by more than 750 media companies, including McClatchy, Belo and the
Associated Press.

The company said its mobile news apps have been downloaded 7
million times, while 14 million readers accessed news from mobile devices via
its platform in July, a 151% increase over the same period a year ago.
