New York – Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) is preparing to launch a new service,
similar to Facebook Connect, that will allow Web publishers to integrate Yahoo
more closely with their sites, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing
sources.

The "Y Connect" platform would allow users to login to media
sites using their Yahoo accounts, and share activity on media sites with Yahoo
contacts.

One goal of such a service is to be able to track users’ activities
in order to serve them targeted advertising.

A source told The Journal that Y
Connect is expected to be formally announced in the fall, and will be supported
by publishers including The Huffington Post.
