Palo Alto, Calif. – Facebook began introducing a new profile
page layout for users over the weekend, placing more prominence on tagged
photos and a new box with a user’s basic information.

The box at the top of the
page will include the personal information a user has chosen to make public,
including location, occupation, schools, and relationship status.

Another new
addition is "Featured Friends," which allows users to create groups
of friends, such as for a family or sports team.

A "see friendship"
feature now includes the interests two friends share in common, in addition to
mutual friends.

Wired notes that the new design also now gives all four ad
units on Facebook’s home page more prominence.
