Seoul, South Korea – Google (NASD: GOOG) and electronics maker Samsung on
Monday introduced the Nexus S, a new Google-branded smartphone. The Nexus S is
expected to go on sale by Dec. 16 at Best Buy in the U.S. and from Carphone
Warehouse in the U.K after Dec. 20.
The Nexus S runs Android 2.3, and sports a
4-inch touch-screen, 1GHz processor, 16GB of memory, front and rear-facing
cameras and support for near-field communications (NFC).
Google’s first branded
smartphone, the Nexus One, went on sale in January from Google’s own website.
By July, the company had discontinued in-house sales of the smartphone.
