Alexandria, Va. – The National Center for Missing &
Exploited Children said on Monday it plans to expand its AMBER Alert program to
social network Facebook later this month. The program, which issues
geographically targeted bulletins on missing or abducted children, currently
operates through local TV and radio stations, digital highway signs, Internet
and wireless services providers and the trucking industry. Since its inception
in 1997, the program has been credited with the safe recovery of 525 children.
