Mountain View, Calif. – Google (NASD: GOOG) has signed a deal with film
producers the Weinstein Company, to make some 20 movie titles available for
rental from its YouTube unit for $2.99, PaidContent reported.

It’s unclear why the deal was not promoted by either company, but said
Weinstein films like "Sicko," "Bobby," "Hannibal
Rising," "Scary Movie 4" and "Death Proof" popped up
on YouTube’s rental service in mid-November.

The lack of promotion could signal
why, as PaidContent noted, all of the Weinstein films available on YouTube have
to date garnered a total of just 649 views — generating under $2,000 in rental
fees.
