New York – Hoping to forge a new direction for the ailing
newspaper industry, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) said on Thursday it plans to
launch its iPad newspaper, called The Daily, on Feb. 2.

The launch will take
place two weeks later than originally planned, reportedly allowing Apple (NASD: AAPL) to
iron out a few technical kinks with its new subscription model for iTunes.

AppleInsider reported that the digital-only paper will cost $0.99 a week, with
editions delivered automatically to users’ iPads.

The Daily will feature
U.S.-based news, produced from offices in New York and Los Angeles.
