Silver Spring, Md. – Encouraged by strong support from
advertisers, Discovery Communications (NASD: DISCA) is planning to lend another $50 million
to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), CEO David Zaslav revealed on Friday.

The funding will help bolster the network’s programming, less than two months after it officially replaced Discovery Health in the company stable.

The Washington
Post reported that Discovery — which now has committed $239 million to OWN —
now expects the network to begin turning a profit within a year.
