Washington – Sponto, the developer of a mobile platform that
allows college students to share information about campus parties and events in
real time, said on Tuesday it has raised $200,000 in an initial round of
funding, led by Amplifier Ventures.

The company said it will use the proceeds
to complete the first commercial release of its event-sharing platform, as well
as expand to new schools and grow its software development team.

As part of the
investment, Sponto has joined the Amplifier Business Accelerator Program.

Sponto
launched its apps exclusively at the University of Maryland late last year, and
plans to commercially launch the newest version of its Android, iPhone and
Blackberry tool during the second quarter, initially catering to D.C.-area
universities but expanding to other markets by the fall.
