Seattle – Swpye, the developer of a unique text-entry method
where users swipe a finger or stylus across a keyboard to spell out words, has
raised $3.5 million in new funding from Ignition Partners, All Things D
reported.

The company also expects to announce deals with additional backers in
coming weeks. Seattle-based Swype counts around 26 million installations, which
is also being preloaded on Android phones from Samsung, HTC and Motorola.

Neither Apple’s iPhone nor handsets running Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7
currently allow the Swype application.
