Foster City, Calif. – A hacker attack last week has left
Sony’s (NYSE: SNE) online game service PlayStation Network and its new Qriocity music and
video services offline since Wednesday.

"In order to conduct a thorough
investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network
services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity
services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th," Patrick Seybold, senior
director of corporate communications and social media, wrote on the PlayStation
blog.

An update posted Monday morning noted that Sony’s investigation is a
"time intensive process"; the company said it did not have a
timeframe to share on when the services might come back online.

While the
hacker group Anonymous targeted Sony’s websites last month — in retaliation
for the company’s lawsuit against PS3 hacker George Hotz — the group has
reportedly denied involvement with the current outages.
