Washington – After crashing for part of the day on Monday in
the face of overwhelming demand following the announcement of the death of
Osama bin Laden, a portion of the Newseum website that shows the front pages of
newspapers from around the world is now back up. People from around the world
began to inundate the site early Monday morning searching for front pages that
featured the news of Osama bin Laden’s death. Officials from the DC-based
museum told the Associated Press the site was processing more than 2,800
transactions a second when it crashed. An archived look at Monday’s front pages
— about 800 from 77 countries — is available at the link below.
