Redwood City, Calif. – Video game publisher Electronic Arts
plans to in coming years eliminate physical distribution of games on disc in
favor of all-digital distribution, CEO John Riccitiello said on an earnings conference
call transcribed by SeekingAlpha and picked up by CNET. "Over the coming
years, we will transform EA from a packaged goods company to a fully integrated
digital entertainment company. We’re transforming EA to a games-as-a-service
model," said Riccitiello.
