San Francisco – MusiXmatch, the provider of a digital song
lyrics API, announced on Monday that it has secured $3.7 million in its first
round of funding, led by Micheli Associates.
Bologna, Italy-based musiXmatch’s
database features 5.3 million song lyrics translated into 18 languages, which
can be used by online music services to augment their offerings.
Partners
include BMG, Kobalt, Universal Music Publishing Group, Sony/ATV Music and Harry
Fox Agency.
The company plans to use the funds to expand its product reach in
the U.S. and Asia.
