Mountain View, Calif. – Luminate, the Mountain View, Calif.-based developer of a platform designed to make images interactive on the web, said on Thursday it has raised $10.7 million in its third round of funding, led by Nokia Growth Partners. Several previous backers also participated.

The news comes as the company on Thursday launched its Image App Store, where publishers can browse and choose specific image apps they wish to use on their sites.

Luminate also has released 11 new image apps, designed specifically for interacting with images across the web.

“The most successful technologies ultimately evolve into platforms,” said CEO Bob Lisbonne. “Luminate first introduced image apps, and today’s image app store represents the logical next step. In the future, we will open our platform to third-party developers.”

The company had been known as Pixazza until last July.
