McLean, Va. – Mobile Posse, a McLean-based provider of mobile home screen messaging services, said on Tuesday it has raised $5 million in its third round of funding, led by new investor Harbert Venture Partners. Softbank Capital, Court Square Ventures, Columbia Capital and several individuals also participated.

The news comes as the company said it now reaches more than 15 million mobile consumers with active home screen messaging – one third of which are Android users.

Carrier customers include Verizon Wireless, MetroPCS, U.S. Cellular and Cricket. Mobile Posse’s platform allows carriers and advertisers to engage consumers with graphical interactive messages and surveys on the home screen of their mobile phones.
