Virool, the developer of a self-service social video ad platform, said on Thursday it has raised $6.6 million in a seed round of funding. Thomvest Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Digital Sky Technologies, Phenomenon Ventures, TMT Ventures, DominateFund and FundersClub participated in the round, along with a number of high-profile individuals. The company plans to use the proceeds to expand the adoption of its platform, which helps advertisers promote their YouTube videos inside Facebook games, mobile apps, blogs and websites. Publishers are paid for each video they show on their properties. Virool has grown from 200 to more than 30,000 customers since its launch last March. Clients include Intel, Samsung, K-Swiss, Sony and Orbitz. See more.
