yahoo_purple_largeFollowing a year of major acquisitions and a new CEO, Yahoo on Wednesday kicked off a rebranding effort that will see the Internet company unveil 30 new variations of its logo over the next 30 days. The effort — dubbed “30 Days of Change,” will culminate with the unveiling of the company’s official new logo at midnight on Sept. 5. Yahoo said it plans to keep the color purple, as well as its exclamation point and yodel theme. “Over the past year, there’s been a renewed sense of purpose and progress at Yahoo, and we want everything we do to reflect this spirit of innovation,” wrote CMO Kathy Savitt. “While the company is rapidly evolving, our logo — the essence of our brand — should too.” The marketing push comes on the heels of a transitional period for the company, which began last summer with the hiring of former Google executive Marissa Mayer as its new CEO and included the $1.1 billion acquisition of blog network Tumblr in May.
