michaelrobertsonReuters reports that a federal court jury in Manhattan has found Michael Robertson, former MP3tunes chief executive, and the defunct San Diego-based company liable on various claims of copyright infringement based on copyrights associated with artists including The Beatles, Coldplay and David Bowie, once part of EMI Group Ltd.  The jury found that MP3tunes willfully violated the copyright laws. More than 2,100 copyrights were at issue in the liability phase of the trial. Launched in 2005, MP3tunes was known for its cloud music service that allowed users to store music in online lockers. The jury will now determine damages, which is expected to take two to three days. The case is recorded as Capital Records Inc et al v.
