Oracle, the database management giant, said on Monday it will acquire Colorado-based Front Porch Digital, a developer of content storage management tools designed to help companies better handle their large amounts of digital media content. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Front Porch’s tools are used to manage content such as HD films and TV shows, medical images and records and real-time security monitoring feeds. Clients include A&E Television, BBC, Discovery Communications, the Library of Congress and NASCAR. John Fowler, the executive vice president of Oracle Systems, said that Front Porch’s capabilities “complement” his company’s existing engineered storage tools. Read more.
