The reinvented iHeartRadio is now available in beta, open only to those who have “liked” its parent Clear Channel Radio on Facebook. The free service combines more than 800 live, professional radio stations with stations that are custom created on the fly to suit each listener. Pandora, Spotify and other custom music should keep on their toes.

Young Mutant Class Takes Over Hollywood [with video]

Young mutants completely took over the landmark Hollywood Roosevelt hotel, with the help of Pearl Media, as Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment celebrated the release of "X-Men: First Class" on Blu-ray and DVD. While partygoers got a close-up of the experience, even tourists reading the stars on Hollywood's Walk of Fame were undoubtedly impressed by what at first glance looked like a typical lighting extravaganza until they realized they were watching an outdoor 3D transformation of the historic hotel.

HbbTV Celebrates Its 50th

HbbTV celebrated reaching 50 at IBC 2011, the International Broadcasting Convention, which ends Tuesday. Not its birthday, since HbbTV was first announced to the market in August 2009, but the milestone of the Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV consortium reaching 50 members. More than 30 of these companies demonstrated implementations at the conference that were based on HbbTV.

Virgin Media and Cisco Enter Olympics Speed Trials

Virgin Media is making the most of what it’s got, using technology from Cisco in an initiative designed to deliver speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps over its existing cable network.
