Social games, which undoubtedly suck hours of productivity out of every workday, have come to Google+. But don’t worry – players won’t be able to clutter up everyone else’s feeds with their latest need for a farm implement or their latest level achievement.

If anyone should worry, it might be Facebook. In keeping with its “circles” of interest approach, the typographically challenged Google+ keeps all games and related updates segregated away from everything else. People only see game stuff when they’re interested in game stuff, not when they’re catching up on what their friends do when they’re not at the keyboard.

Google’s Vic Gundotra, senior vice president, Engineering explained it on the official blog, writing, “Games in Google+ are there when you want them and gone when you don’t.”

Clicking the games button reveals game accomplishments, updates, pending invitations, and all of the other things that make social gaming fun when you’re playing them and annoying when you’re not. The way Google+ arranged it, Gundotra wrote, “You can comfortably share your latest high score — your circles will only see the updates when they’re interested in playing games too.”

Among the games available at launch today are: Zynga Poker; Digital Chocolate’s Zombie Lane; MMO action from Kabam with Dragons of Atlantis and its brand new title Edgeworld; PopCap Game’s Bejeweled Blitz; Wooga’s Bubble Island, Monster World and Diamond Dash, and Rovio’s flyaway smash hit (ahem) Angry Birds.
