Engine USA Acquires Interactive Marketing Firm Deep Focus
New York – Communications and marketing firm Engine USA
announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Deep Focus, a New York-based
interactive marketing agency.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded
in 2002, Deep Focus has developed online marketing campaigns for clients
including Microsoft, Nintendo, AMC, ESPN and Samsung.
Engine USA is a unit of
London-based Engine Group, which was founded in 2005.
Last week, Engine
announced a $100 million investment from an affiliate of investment firm H.I.G.
Capital, which it will use for growth across the U.S., China, Brazil and
Europe.
"We expect the acquisition of Deep Focus to be the precursor to
further acquisitions as we recreate this highly successful Engine model outside
our home market of the UK," said Engine USA chairman Peter Scott.

ReverbNation Buys Mobile Music App Developer Sound Around
New York – ReverbNation, the provider of an online marketing
and promotion platform, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Sound Around,
a mobile application developer focused on musicians.
Financial terms of the
transaction were not disclosed.
Over 900,000 musicians, labels, managers and
venues use New York-based ReverbNation’s platform.
North Carolina-based Sound
Around’s team will extend ReverbNation’s tools to mobile platforms.

Clovr Nabs $1.5 Million for Online Card-Linked Offer Ads
Waltham Mass. – Clovr Media, a developer of credit
card-linked offers for online advertising, announced on Tuesday that it has
received $1.5 million in seed funding, from Kepha Partners and Common Angels.
Waltham, Mass.-based Clovr’s technology allows advertisers to offer special
discounts via online ads to consumers who have agreed to allow a link to their
financial institution.
The consumer receives the discount on their credit card
statement, and the advertiser only pays when the transaction is complete.

Evernote Secures $20 Million in Third Round
Mountain View, Calif. – Evernote, the developer of a
multi-platform tool designed to let users capture information in nearly any
environment, said on Tuesday that it has raised $20 million in a third round of
financing, led by new investor Sequoia Capital.
Existing shareholders
Morganthaler Ventures, DoCoMo Capital and Troika Dialog also participated.
Mountain View, Calif.-based Evernote now counts 4.7 million users of its
service, which launched publicly in June 2008.
The service gives users the
choice of 13 different desktop, mobile and browser options for "capturing
their memories."
