YouTube Adds Appeal Process on Community Guideline Takedowns

0

San Bruno, Calif. – Google’s (NASD: GOOG) YouTube has added a new feature
that lets users easily lodge an appeal when their videos are taken down for a
violation of the company’s Community Guidelines.

Now, when users flag a video
as being in violation, the uploader of that video can sign into their account
settings and click "Appeal this decision."

YouTube will then review
the appeal, and either restore the video if they find it does not violate
Community Guidelines after all, and remove the "strike" placed
against the uploader’s account.

The company also promises to send the uploader
an email letting him or her know the result of the appeal request.

The new
appeals process applies only to Community Guidelines violations, and cannot be
used to appeal videos taken down due to copyright violations.

Apple Records to Reissue Non-Beatles Albums on Digital Download

0

Hollywood – Apple Corps and EMI announced on Tuesday that
they will reissue 15 albums originally released by Apple Records, a label
launched by the Beatles in 1968 to release their own and friends’ recordings.

While the reissues will not include any Beatles albums, remastered versions of
albums from James Taylor, Badfinger, Billy Preston, Mary Hopkin and others will
be released on CD and digital download.

The reissues, which will notably mark
"the first ever Apple Records releases to be available via digital
download," are slated for release on Oct. 26.

The move follows years of
wrangling over the release of the lucrative Beatles catalog on digital.

Sir
Paul McCartney told the BBC in May that labels were to blame for the delay.

"It’s been business hassles," McCartney told the BBC. "Not with
us, or iTunes. It’s the people in the middle, the record label. There have been
all sorts of reasons why they don’t want to do it."
