San Francisco – It took Twitter three years, two months and
one day to reach 1 billion tweets, a milestone now reached weekly by Twitter
users, the company said in a blog post. A year ago, the average number of
tweets per day sent was 50 million; over the past month, that figure has
averaged 140 million.
The company said it is currently adding 460,000 new
accounts each day.
Twitter reports that it has also seen a 182% increase in the number of mobile
users over the past year.
